Slack Integration Update
Slack is introducing new API rate limits starting June 30, 2025, which affect how apps like Plain can access conversation data. To stay compliant and maintain service reliability, we're migrating away from the impacted APIs. This update will be completed before the new limits take effect.
As a result, one Slack integration behavior will change:
Previously: If someone replied in a thread to a Slack message that wasn't yet in Plain, and the Plain bot had been added to the channel, we would ingest that message into Plain.
After June 30: Replies in threads created before the Plain bot was added to a channel will no longer be ingested into Plain. These threads will now be ignored.
To prepare for this change, we’ve made the following update to the Slack integration:
Starting this week, if someone replies to a Slack thread that was created before this week and is not yet in Plain, that reply will no longer be ingested. However, if the Slack thread is already in Plain, we’ll continue to ingest replies to it - even if the thread was created before this week.
No action is needed on your end. This change will be applied automatically and only affects older Slack threads in newly-integrated channels.
