We have a fast-growing number of customers that we’re really excited about such as Clerk, Stytch, and Fly.io and we’re just getting started. We want Plain to be awesome for early-stage companies, but we’re particularly excited about the traction we’re seeing with larger companies who are eager for a modern support tool.
We’re preparing for our next stage of growth and we need someone who can keep the beating drum of Plain’s internal operations going. That’s where you come in.
As an Operations Associate, you’ll work with our founders Simon and Matt and our Business Operations Manager, Youmna, to manage the day-to-day internal operations of Plain. You’ll be critical not only in ensuring daily operations keep moving forward, but also in helping to scale our internal operations as the company grows.
What you'll do
Oversee accounts receivable and payable, manage reconciliations, cash flow, and reporting. You’ll make sure our finances run like clockwork.
Ensure that we remain compliant with regulations such as SOC2 and GDPR and lead initiatives to help us acquire and maintain additional certifications such as HIPAA, etc.
Manage the nitty-gritty details of company filings, maintain company registers, and support our cap table and subsidiary management.
Help us to maintain a great work culture as we continue to grow the team, including helping with onboarding, planning offsites and company events.
Help us to manage payroll, pay bands, and benefits.
This is a great fit if you…
You have approximately 1-3 years of experience working in finance, law, or accounting. You’ve either previously worked in a start-up in this role or you’re interested in learning more about operations at a fast-growing company.
You’re incredibly detail-oriented. No item gets lost on your to-do list and every number is analyzed and verified.
You enjoy juggling multiple responsibilities at once - you want to learn more about multiple workstreams, including HR, finance, compliance, and legal.
You’re diligent in getting the job done - a lot of this role will be about coordinating work internally and knowing how to gather information from the right people.
You love building internal processes while keeping things lean and fast - the place where you thrive is making sure that all the boxes get checked in a rapidly changing environment.
This won't be the right role if you…
You want to specialize in one part of operations right away - right now, we’re looking for someone who wants to learn across multiple areas.
You are interested in a commercial/customer-facing role - we need someone who is focused on building our internal processes, so if you want a role that touches both sides of operations, this might not be the right fit.
You’re more of a big picture thinker - attention to even the smallest detail is the most important thing for success in this role.
You don’t like figuring things out independently - a lot of this role is about taking a somewhat ambiguous task and figuring it out as you go (i.e finding the best cybersecurity insurance provider or buying the best invoicing tool).
