Hiring continues to be one of the hardest things about building a company, but also one of the most rewarding. We're incredibly excited to welcome Jordan and Youmna to the Plain team!

And we’re not done yet 👀 If you’re interested in joining our small but mighty team, take a look at our open roles here. We’re looking for a Founding Product Marketer, Frontend Engineers and Backend Engineers.

Jordan Drake

Senior Software Engineer

Hey! I’m joining Plain as a software engineer from One Garden, and previously Fidel API and Treatwell. I started coding games as a teenager, studied Computer Science at Newcastle, and worked in London for a decade before moving closer to home in Manchester.

Why did you join Plain?

Plain offers me a fantastic combination of things. It lets me to use my existing technical expertise to learn new tools and techniques. It’s a new product domain for me with some really interesting challenges to solve. There’s a focus on developer experience both internally and externally. The team is welcoming, highly competent, very open and I’m really excited to work with them.

What's one thing you know unusually a lot about?

Just the one? That’s not fair. I have an eclectic set of interests and I’m equally likely to talk about Power Rangers as I am powerlifting. I have a particular love for mythology in all its forms, from Greek classics to Lord of the Rings. I’ve spent too much time (and money) on skin care and even made my own soap.

Youmna Sirgi

Founding Business Operations Manager

Hello! 👋🏼 Excited to be bringing a business operations perspective (all things 💲💲💲) to the Plain team. I started my career in technology consulting at Capgemini, before pursuing a Masters in Business (MBA) at the University of Oxford and interning with Lakestar.

Why did you join Plain?

From a product perspective, I love that we are facilitating support for engineers and designers. They spend so much time building for others, it’s about time that they get better support themselves. I also appreciate working in a team where each person contributes to the company’s trajectory and how intentional we are about growth. It’s rare to see so much time dedicated to the “how” and “why” we work together for a company at this stage.

What’s your go-to meal when you’re cooking to impress?

Depends on how much time I have. If I need to whip something up quickly, a steak with chimichurri sauce and potatoes never fails. If I’ve got a bit more time, I’ll make a slow cooked lamb shawarma or a homemade paella. 🥘
